The plot thickens!!!
After a much heated discussion on the official BTTF.com message board, it appears that the DVDs have been for sale at amazon during the beginning of this month, taken off, and been seen in various forms on ebay as bootleg dvds and vcds. The latest news is that September will be the official release date of the Back to the Future Trilogy, and so (I think) you heard it hear first. However, if like me, this sounds old news, don't be too let down if they do not appear by then, because I can't hold my breath any longer!!! I hope that this is the gospel truth that I have been told, because the wait for these coveted discs is becoming harder and harder!!!

More Reasons for the Delay!

Rumours, rumours, rumours
It seems that more and more rumours are being spread as to when the release of the dvds will come. It now appears that it may be July 3rd to tie in with the 16th anniversary, however this date is not set in stone. More and more classics are now arriving on this video format (Superman and the Terminator to name but two) and as such why aren't the BTTF trilogy here yet! Well a lot of discussions are based aroud the Eric Stoltz footage, others are just at Universals hectic schedule. if you want to know more, I found this article the other day from the dvdfile.com amongst others.

More Bad News
Thanks to a reliable source, it appears that Universal do not have a release date for the trilogy, and as such do not have one for some time. It is common practice that there is a period of around 3 months between the announcement of a DVD and its release. I have been told not to expect the trilogy to be seen until the holiday season of 2001.

UH OH!
Thanks to an e-mail from TJ, I have discovered that according to TheDigitalBits.com, the DVD releases have been held back to 2001. This must be the Region 1 Discs, due to Region 2 owners expecting the Trilogy to be released in January. Check back soon for more news!

It's coming to region 2 in January!
The hottest news is that the trilogy will be available in the UK (Region 2) on January 15th 2001. Apparently, the release of Jaws on DVD has inside a leaflet stating that the Trilogy will be coming in January. This probably means that those with Region 1 can expect it in time for Christmas you lucky people!!
"Where can I get them?" I hear you cry. Well, according to the rumours, DVD Zone 2 are taking orders. A report from TheDigitalBits.com have stated that they have had a pretty good word from their sources that Universal is in the prep stages for releasing the trilogy by January 2001. Another report from Video Tropic says that a note from a reader has said that his print shop has received an order for 1 sheet promo materials giving a release date of January 15th. So you heard it hear first Look out for January 15th 2001

According to a recent report at bttf.com, the domain names for Back to the Future parts 2 and 3 have been registered. Could Universal Pictures be plotting something? I am hoping for "Yes"

More rumours have developed regarding Back to the future part 2 DVD. It seems that there are more deleted scenes never before viewed by anyone. And if all goes to plan with an additional feature, the movie can be seen as Director Robert Zemeckis intended by using an option to add the extra scenes into the original movie.

After scouring through other BTTF Websites, it looks as though the release of the trilogy has been put back to Christmas (I am assumming this will be in the States) to accomodate for a boom in DVD christmas sales. Let's hope this rumour is not concrete.

According to Videotropic, the release of the BTTF Trilogy special edition DVD's are not far away for those of you in the United States, however on this side of the pond we may have to wait a little longer (maybe Christmas) However the details of the trilogy look like this.
